On Friday, 23rd March 2018, the Awards Ceremony of the III Polish Nobel Laureates Competition. Maria Skłodowska – Curie, was held. The ceremony began at 9.30 in Dworek Białoprądnicki, by warm welcome of Mrs Barbara Prokop – the Head of the Independent Polish Nobel Laureates Primary School No. 2 in Krakow. A speech was also given by DSc Tomasz Pospieszny from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, who also read a letter from Ms Małgorzata Sobieszczak-Marciniak – the president of the Society of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Society in Tribute.
The speeches were followed by the prize – giving ceremony, a long awaited by the students moment.The master of this part of event was prof. Piotr Jargusz – chairman of the jury of the art contest. The prize – giving ceremony was followed by the opening of the art exhibition.
This year’s edition of the contest was devoted to Maria Skłodowska-Curie. It offered a choice of two forms: artistic and literary-oratory. In the art competition, students were supposed to do art works on the following topics: the Years 1-3 – “Maria Skłodowska – Curie in her laboratory – illustration” and the Years 4-7 and Secondary School – “Maria Skłodowska – Curie – a creative portrait of a scholar”.
In the literary and oratory competition, the participants were asked to give a monologue on the following topic: Outstanding scholar and extraordinary woman – Maria Skłodowska – Curie’s biggest dreams. Students faced a few demanding assessment terms: level of mastering the text, content and style, speech technique and a costume. Auditions in this part of the competition took place on Wednesday, March 21. The jury’s chairman was Marcin Daniec – a famous satirist and artist.The jury pointed out that due to a high level of artistic works and speeches, reaching the final decision, was not an easy task to do.
