Dance and art workshops, visiting monuments, classes at a partner school and the weekend with German families – these are only some of the activities during the Polish-German school exchange programme which took place from May 2 to 9, 2018.
During the 8-day trip 16 of our students and their caretakers Mrs Violetta Węglarz and Mrs Małgorzata Iwanow visited Albert-Einstein Secondary School in Völklingen. This visit was a unique opportunity to get to know the culture of the country and the region, but above all to improve language skills. The hosts prepared a rich programme of events which among many others included: “Urban Art”, dance and art workshops, a city rally, the trips to Trier and the Völklingen Ironworks which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.As the students have emphasized the most interesting part of the exchange was the weekend spent with their host families – “staying at our German colleagues’ homes allowed us to get to know the culture, customs and local cuisine specialties as well. By staying with our host families we also had a chance to visit many interesting places in the Völklingen area”.The exchange was organized within a framework of the project “Culture and Industry Yesterday and Today” which was co-financed by the Polish-German Youth Cooperation – an organization which has been supporting meetings of young Poles and Germans for many years now.
