On 13 December 2018 another meeting organised within framework of the project The Nobel Laureates Ask Questions, took place. This time our special guest was Ms Anna Prokop-Staszecka, the Chief Executive Officer of the John Paul II Specialist Hospital in Krakow. Ms Anna Prokop-Staszecka, a Doctor of Medicine is an internist, microbiologist, serologist and pulmonologist. For many years she was a lecturer at the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University. She is also the author of several dozen works in medicine, published in specialized Polish and foreign magazines. She has been the Councilor of the City of Kraków in The Friendly Krakow club since 2010. She works in committees – Innovation and Use of EU Funds, Health and Prophylaxis and Ecology and Air Protection as well.
The meeting was attended by Year 8 students and the middle school students. Among many issues – the current state of air quality in Krakow, the consequences of air pollution, how smog affects human health, its well-being and functioning, were discussed. Students also asked what we can do to minimise the risk of, various types of diseases? What does the City of Krakow offer in fight against smog, what activities are carried out as preventive healthcare services? Is our body able to resist smog or air pollution?
Our Guest patiently and comprehensively answered the numerous questions of our students who were keenly interested in all issues.
