From April 26th to May 3rd, 2019 a group of our school the highest years’ students took part in a school trip to Oxford and London. For a few days, they had a unique opportunity to look into studying in Great Britain students’ lives and to see the most important landmarks in England.
In Oxford, students participated in classes and workshops on subjects from a wide range of fields and interests. They were conducted by the postgraduate students and university lecturers: Nora Eisner (‘How to discover a Planet’), Aleksandra Majak (‘T. S. Eliot’s poetry’), Kacper Kowalczyk (‘Distributive justice’), Magda Heydel (‘Translation Studies’) and Moritz Reithmayr (‘Excursion to trans-politics’). Each day brought a chance to visit different interesting places such as the New College Tower, the Ashmolean Museum, the Bodleian Library, the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and “Harry Potter” filming locations. The last three days of the trip the students spent in London going sightseeing. They saw Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, St James’s Park, Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, the Covent Garden, and Westminster Abbey. On Tuesday and Wednesday, they went to the theatre to see two musicals “The Lion King” and “Matilda”. Thanks to the professor Danuta Kamińska’s kindness our students spent Thursday afternoon at UCL (University College London) participating in lectures and classes in laboratories and visiting the campus.
We would like to refer our special thanks to Aleksandra Majak – our school graduate and current Ph.D. student at the University of Oxford, who organized workshops in Oxford and made it possible for us to see the places that are not accessible to tourists on a daily basis.
