In our school, on May 4-11 we hosted a group of 16 German teenagers and their caretakers. It was another meeting annually held within a framework of Polish-German school exchange we maintain with our partner school from Völklingen in the Saarland.
Visiting Krakow in the form of a quest city tour, workshops at the Pretzel Museum, climbing Maciejowa Mountain – these were some of the events from our itinerary. An important attraction was the night we spent in the Wieliczka Salt Mine where, after sightseeing, we got to know each other better playing a number of warm-up games.
Going sightseeing our students turned themselves into the tour guides and made our German guests delighted with our city. We visited the Wawel Cathedral and did not forget about the Wawel Dragon’s Den. To make a visit even more interesting the students from Germany and Poland took part in dance and art workshops and shared their English lessons.
We would like to thank Polish students’ parents, who hosted German students, for their great hospitality. Everyone agreed that it was the most interesting aspect of the exchange – to create for German students opportunity to learn about culture, customs, and Polish cuisine, and in turn, for Polish students to improve their language skills.
We would also like to thank our students who showed their Austuschpartners Krakow from a different perspective: Laser Park, GoJump, Aqua Park and many other attractions.
The exchange was organized within a framework of “Magic Krakow” project which is co-financed by the Polish-German Youth Cooperation – the organization which has been supporting the meetings of young Poles and Germans for many years now.
